This gym was recommended to us a year ago, and I am delighted that I enrolled my children. After registering them, I was also invited to join. I signed up just like the other parents of children who train here. My children and I find it enjoyable; the owners feel like family! I value their teaching methods and the encouragement they extend to everyone who steps onto the mat. From preparing them for tournaments to being right by their side during competitions. The coach does not focus on or demand a win; he prioritizes safety and the experience gained from a match. The coach advises the kids to enjoy themselves and have fun while competing! I wholeheartedly recommend joining; you will not regret it.

I moved to DFW about two years ago as a purple belt coming from a gym focused on competition style training. I tried about 15 gyms near my area before finding Joao at Rocha Martial Arts. He’s a world class athlete but more importantly a world class jiu jitsu coach. He promotes hard and competitive trained for those who are looking for that but also pays close care to those who may just be looking to get a good workout and learn some self defense. 10/10 recommend for everyone regardless how long you have been doing the sport. You will be welcomed with open arms and a part of the family in no time!

Rocha Martial Arts is the best school in Dallas for your family if you're searching for martial arts classes. There’s a real family environment, with superior coaches. The coaches keep classes serious and fun while the kids learn self-discipline and control. Plus, there is a large group of older grapplers. I’ve tried different schools before Rocha Martial Arts, but nothing compares to this place.

I can’t say enough good things about this gym. From day one, the vibe has been welcoming, positive, and motivating. Everyone genuinely cares about each other’s growth — both on and off the mats — which makes it such a great environment to train in. Professor João is an incredible instructor. He’s knowledgeable, patient, and truly invested in helping each student improve. You can tell he’s building something special here. The program is structured, challenging, and supportive at the same time.

This gym has been a blessing to find. This is not a gym where you’re just learning jiujitsu techniques, here you learn how to apply the jiujitsu mentality in your life. Coming to this gym has changed my life dramatically and I know it can change yours too.

Frequently Asked Questions

IS THERE A FREE TRIAL CLASS?

Absolutely. We invite all prospective students to try their first class free at Alliance Jiu Jitsu Dallas. It's the best way to experience our training environment, meet our coaches, and see if BJJ is right for you. No experience or equipment needed — comfortable athletic clothing is fine.

DO I NEED ANY EXPERIENCE TO START?

No experience necessary! Alliance Jiu Jitsu Dallas welcomes complete beginners. Our instructors break down every technique step by step, and our community is known for being welcoming and patient with new students. Everyone starts as a white belt, and that's exactly where you should start too.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST CLASS?

For your first visit, comfortable athletic clothing works perfectly — a t-shirt and shorts or athletic pants. Once you commit to training regularly, you'll want to invest in a gi (kimono). Our coaches can recommend quality options at a range of price points.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN?

Most students at Alliance Jiu Jitsu Dallas train 2 to 3 times per week and see consistent progress. Showing up regularly matters far more than training intensely once in a while. We offer multiple class times throughout the week so you can find a schedule that fits your life.

DO YOU OFFER CLASSES FOR KIDS?

Yes! We offer dedicated programs for children and teens at Alliance Jiu Jitsu Dallas. Our youth classes focus on discipline, respect, confidence-building, and the fundamentals of BJJ in a safe, fun environment.
