Absolutely love underworld class Coach Aiden and Coach Danielle are the best with our kids!!!They’re very knowledgeable, but they also make classes fun and entertaining. I also must mention my absolute favorite, the family class which allows parents to practice with their kids.

Danielle is an amazing instructor and person. She’s dedicated, caring and actual world champion! Highly recommend her nogi program to kids and adults in DC.

Danielle and team are fantastic! We started here when my son was four and he’s grown so much! It is also just a great place to burn energy after school. We’ve loved Underworld BJJ!

Our son and daughter have trained here for a year, and the growth in their confidence has been incredible to watch. The gym has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and even though jiu-jitsu is an individual sport, it truly feels like a team. The kids support one another, and the sense of community extends to the parents—we’ve built meaningful connections both in and out of the gym. Coach Danielle and Coach Aidan are exceptional. They are knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in each child’s development. Coach Danielle, in particular, is especially thoughtful and skilled in working with neurodivergent kids, creating an environment where every child feels supported, capable, and included.

We tried putting our son on a soccer field, and he ran off into the woods. I feel like we've finally found his sport at Underworld BJJ. The coaches are skilled, patient, and as silly or serious as the day requires. The kids love them. The training pushes without being overbearing. I like the emphasis on sportsmanship and competition without ego. BJJ has bit of a learning curve, and the delayed gratification and mental resilience it fosters is the perfect antidote to screen-time. Classes are everyday. Come as much or as little as you need to. That's the stuff you would want from any BJJ gym, but where Underworld really shines is the community it fosters outside class. Movie nights, picnics, and open houses cultivate a team camaraderie that makes showing up each week a pleasure rather than one more extracurricular thing to get done. We had our son's 9th birthday party here, and his friends from school have been raving about it ever since. Most had no experience with the sport before that day. I was on the fence about BJJ for a long time, but this gym is perfect for our boys. Thank you Danielle and Aidan!
