Cavalcanti — one of six men promoted to black belt by the legendary Rolls Gracie before Gracie's death in 1982 — had co-founded Alliance in 1993, and when he settled in Sandy Springs and opened his first Georgia school, he anchored one of the most decorated teams in the sport's history to this state.
