The Palm Beach corridor has absorbed serious training energy from both the Miami and Orlando markets.

Orlando and Tampa round out the triangle that defines Florida's competitive landscape. Bruno Malfacine, a ten-time world champion at rooster weight, runs Alliance Jiu-Jitsu in College Park, Orlando, and Guto Campos — another ten-time world champion — operates his own academy there as well. Having two practitioners of that caliber in the same city pushes the local training quality in a measurable way. Tampa Bay's scene includes De La Riva BJJ, Gracie Tampa South, and a strong cluster of MMA-integrated academies, with UFC veteran Matt Arroyo among the prominent names producing competition-level students. Jacksonville, though less publicized, has over a hundred listed academies and draws from a large military and athletic population.

Florida's year-round warm weather and dense population have produced something specific in the training culture: a competition mindset that doesn't cool off in winter. Tournaments run every month somewhere in the state, and the amateur ranks are deep enough that even intermediate students get reps against quality opposition. Class formats vary widely — strict Gracie self-defense curricula exist alongside hard-nosed no-gi competition academies and everything in between. The youth programs are particularly developed; Miami, Orlando, and Tampa all have established kids' competition circuits that have produced nationally ranked teenage competitors.
