I dropped in at Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Academy while in town for work and I couldn’t have had a better experience! Great coaching focusing on a front head lock system, solid rounds from everyone, and a very welcoming and clean environment. They have a good culture here and whenever I come through, I will absolutely make point to drop in. Plus I bought one of their rashguards to rep at my home gym!

I’ve had the opportunity to train at this gym and have been really impressed by the wide variety of training available, backed by a wealth of experience. Everyone I’ve rolled with has been incredibly helpful, with many taking the time to teach me new techniques and provide valuable feedback. The gym also has a fantastic community atmosphere, making it a great place to grow both as an athlete and as part of a supportive team.

I joined tupelo jui jitsu looking for a fun way to get back into shape, while also hoping to find something my wife and I could enjoy doing together. It's been an amazing experience to say the least, I've lost 17lbs since I started and have thoroughly enjoyed doing it. Cody is a great coach and the entire place has a supportive atmosphere, everyone belongs here. I'd recommend it to anyone. My 6 year old son also takes the children's class, and absolutely loves it.

By far the best gym I’ve had the pleasure to train at. I’m on year 2 with Cody and I’ve improved drastically both on and off the mats. Cody’s curriculum is first class with a perfect environment to excel. Great team, great atmosphere and very clean. I love this gym and look forward to each opportunity I get to be apart of it. Many thanks to all the coaches! 🤙

Frequently Asked Questions

IS THERE A FREE TRIAL CLASS?

Yes! We encourage all newcomers to come in and try a class before committing. Your first class at Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Academy is complimentary — just call us or drop by to get started. No experience or equipment is required for your trial.

DO I NEED ANY PRIOR EXPERIENCE TO START TRAINING BJJ?

Absolutely not. Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Academy welcomes complete beginners. Our adult fundamentals program is specifically designed for people with no martial arts background. You will learn the core techniques at a pace that builds real confidence on the mat.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST CLASS?

For your first visit, athletic shorts and a t-shirt are perfectly fine. Once you decide to train regularly, we recommend a BJJ gi (uniform) for gi classes. Our staff can point you toward quality gear options when you visit Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Academy.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN TO PROGRESS IN BJJ?

Most students at Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Academy train 2 to 4 times per week and see excellent progress at that frequency. Consistency is more important than volume — showing up regularly and drilling the fundamentals will accelerate your development more than sporadic intense training.
