If you’re serious about martial arts, this is the place to train in the Pittsburgh area. Well worth it. Good people too. I see to do nutrition for several of the fighters that went here, and they were always great listeners. We never missed weight. It’s a big facility, and may look overwhelming but I promise everyone there is welcoming.

Stout's is always a great stop when I’m visiting Pittsburgh. The team is welcoming, the atmosphere is fun, and the room is tough. High-level Jiu Jitsu, hard rounds, and good people. Always look forward to dropping in when I’m in town.

I've been training here on and off over the past few years. Recently getting more consistent and will say I've been to a few gyms from 18-31 years old and like this gym the most. The instructors are great, people are friendly and always willing to help you as they're learning themselves. It's a great environment to train at any belt/training level for both BJJ and Muay Thai.

Stout is an amazing place to train. I have been training there for almost 2 years. The atmosphere and the coaches are amazing. My two boys take classes there also and they both really enjoy the time spent there. Most of the time we go to the Bridgeville location and the coaches there have been very helpful and positive role models for my two boys. Stout is an all around positive time.

Frequently Asked Questions

IS THERE A FREE TRIAL CLASS?

Absolutely. We invite all prospective students to try their first class free at RENZO GRACIE PITTSBURGH. It's the best way to experience our training environment, meet our coaches, and see if BJJ is right for you. No experience or equipment needed — comfortable athletic clothing is fine.

DO I NEED ANY EXPERIENCE TO START?

No experience necessary! RENZO GRACIE PITTSBURGH welcomes complete beginners. Our instructors break down every technique step by step, and our community is known for being welcoming and patient with new students. Everyone starts as a white belt, and that's exactly where you should start too.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST CLASS?

For your first visit, comfortable athletic clothing works perfectly — a t-shirt and shorts or athletic pants. Once you commit to training regularly, you'll want to invest in a gi (kimono). Our coaches can recommend quality options at a range of price points.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN?

Most students at RENZO GRACIE PITTSBURGH train 2 to 3 times per week and see consistent progress. Showing up regularly matters far more than training intensely once in a while. We offer multiple class times throughout the week so you can find a schedule that fits your life.

DO YOU OFFER CLASSES FOR KIDS?

We primarily serve adult students. Please contact us directly to ask about availability for younger students — we're happy to point you in the right direction.
