I highly recommend NEMA to all parents seeking martial arts training for their children and positive physical development. My 5y son, Ahaan has been attending the New England Martial Arts Athletic Center for a few months, and he absolutely loves it. He has made great progress during this time. Master Cooper is amazing and is great with kids!
I joined NEMA as an adult student about six months ago and I cannot recommend this school enough. Masters Cooper and Red have created an environment where there is always something new to learn or a new way to challenge yourself. The classes are always a great workout and if you want to participate in sparring you will definitely push yourself past your comfort zone (but you’ll be glad you did so). The school itself is welcoming and from day one I felt like I was a member of the team. If you are in the area and are interested in practicing martial arts, learning self defense, or just want to try a new way to exercise while meeting some great people then NEMA is absolutely worth checking out.
As a martial artist of 11 years, I can confidently say that Master Cooper and Master Red at NEMA have been like second parents to me. After bouncing around different schools at a young age, NEMA really stuck out to me. Despite having previous training, my skills were taken to the next level here. Master Cooper believes in all of his students and brings out the best in them. I can confidently say he's done that for me. Now, looking back as a second degree black belt, it becomes clear to me just how much I've grown at NEMA. My focus, discipline, self-control, and physical health have all nearly reached their full potential. I only have Master Cooper and Master Red to thank for all this. I've met many teammates who have become life-long friends and supported me through my journey as well. NEMA has created such a beautiful learning environment that kept me coming back when I was young. Learning to appreciate forms even when I preferred fighting proves just how much value a student can gain from a teacher. I love NEMA and believe anyone looking to better themselves should come and try it out.
Master Cooper is truly amazing! He’s caring, inspiring, and has such a special way of connecting with the kids. My child has grown so much in confidence, focus, and self-discipline thanks to his guidance. You can tell how much he genuinely loves teaching and wants every student to succeed. We feel really lucky to have him as our coach!
UPDATE – Our son has been at NEMA for about a year, and the transformation in his confidence has been incredible. A year ago he was very shy and anxious about speaking or performing in front of others, often ending in tears. Now he raises his hand in class, speaks confidently, and even sees losing as a chance to learn. We are so grateful we decided to try that first class, it has made such a meaningful difference in our son’s confidence and growth. PREVIOUS: I would recommend NEMA to all parents. Our son used to play soccer on the weekends and did not really gain anything out of it except maybe exercise for an hour. We decided to try mixed martial arts to help our child develop self discipline, perseverance, defend himself, and also learn hard work and dedication . A lot of kids in today’s society expect things to be handed to them. We wanted our child to know the joy of hard work paying off and earning your success. The growth we have seen in him from only a couple months is amazing. Instead of him saying “I can’t” constantly when something is hard, he tries- and most of the time succeeds. If he does not succeed he has learned to practice and try again. His confidence has grown tremendously, he has learned it is not always about winning , but rather learning and growing. If you’re on the fence of what to do for extracurriculars for your child- this is it. This is a family run school- which gives it that extremely close knit feel. We love Master Cooper, Master Mike, and Master Red! They made us feel like part of the team immediately and you can tell they have a passion for what they do.Come join the team and watch your child thrive.
