Kyumei Ju Jitsu
About Kyumei Ju Jitsu
At Kyumei Ju Jitsu — operating as the Ohana Self Defense Institute — we are a family-friendly, family-oriented martial arts dojo in Fairmont, West Virginia. Under Headmaster Hanshi Jason Davis (10th dan), we teach traditional martial arts including Kenpo, Arnis, Ju Jutsu, and Judo alongside modern grappling systems that incorporate ground defense skills.
Our philosophy is that true martial arts education goes beyond technique. We build character, confidence, self-control, and respect in every student — from our youngest Kinder Kenpo participants through our adult practitioners. Our family atmosphere sets us apart: when you join, you become part of the Ohana (family).
Kyumei Ju Jitsu is the Fairmont and Marion County community's home for traditional martial arts with a modern grappling foundation, led by experienced instructors dedicated to developing complete martial artists.
Reviews
I trusted Jason to teach my daughter self defense as she approached young adult life. One class turned into a passion for her. She has a greater grace, confidence, and sense of herself since engaging classes for the past year and a half! Good job, Hanshi!
A wonderful learning experience for all ages. A caring, receptive sensei to children and adults, no matter their age or ability. Would recommend to anyone wanting to learn self defense, or in search of a unique way to get and stay in shape.
I’ve been training here about 7 years. It’s a great place to learn how to defend yourself and has a real family atmosphere.
Excellent martial arts school. Great family atmosphere. Lots of classes for various ability levels/ages. Highly recommended!
Jason is a great instructor for both children and adults.
