We’re very happy we chose Kaiser Martial Arts School for our child — he started at 6 and is now 9, and the progress has been incredible. The senseis do an amazing job instilling discipline, focus, respect, and confidence in a way that feels natural and supportive, not forced. What the kids learn here goes far beyond martial arts and carries into everyday life, and we truly appreciate the care and dedication the instructors put into each student. Highly recommended.

I signed my three boys up for karate at KMA after our two week trial. Each teacher has been so kind, attentive and helpful. They already know each kid by name and make each one at their skill levels feel like they’re doing a good job. The class sizes are nice too and each kid gets attention and focus from the teacher. I highly recommend Kiefer’s.

My youngest son is there now. He is five and very high strung. Through working with Kiefer’s he has been more focused and disciplined. Because karate is translated into life, I use the tools from karate and incorporate it into our home. AWESOME PLACE. Whatever your need- they are qualified, gifted, and care. Whether for you or your family- it is worth the investment and sacrifices for it.

I enrolled my son in karate. I like it because it teaches him values. It helps children learn to follow instructions, which is useful in their daily lives. Their teachers are attentive and respectful.

Frequently Asked Questions

IS THERE A FREE TRIAL CLASS?

Yes! We welcome anyone curious about BJJ to come in for a complimentary trial class at Kiefer's Martial Arts. No experience is necessary — just wear comfortable workout clothes and bring a positive attitude. We'll have you on the mats learning Unity fundamentals from day one.

DO I NEED ANY EXPERIENCE TO START TRAINING?

Absolutely not. Kiefer's Martial Arts welcomes complete beginners and our coaches are specifically trained to bring new students up to speed. Our beginner curriculum covers the core positions, escapes, and submissions at a pace that lets you build real skills without feeling overwhelmed. Most of our students started with zero grappling background.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR OR BRING TO MY FIRST CLASS?

For your first visit, just wear clean athletic clothing — board shorts and a rash guard or a t-shirt and leggings work great. We recommend leaving jewelry at home and trimming your fingernails and toenails for everyone's safety. If you decide to continue training, we'll help you get fitted for a properly sized gi.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN TO SEE PROGRESS?

Consistency is the key to improvement in BJJ. We recommend training a minimum of two to three times per week to build muscle memory and see steady progress. That said, even training once a week is better than not training at all, and we have members at Kiefer's Martial Arts at every frequency. Our coaches will work with your schedule to build a training plan that fits your life.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GI AND NO-GI BJJ?

Gi BJJ is practiced wearing a traditional uniform (the gi), which allows for grips on the collar, sleeves, and pants — creating a slower, more technical style of grappling. No-gi BJJ is practiced in shorts and rash guards, with no gi grips, which tends to be faster-paced and more focused on clinch control and leg attacks. At Kiefer's Martial Arts, we offer training in both formats and believe cross-training in each makes you a more complete and well-rounded grappler.
