About Integrated Martial Development Center
At Integrated Martial Development Center, we're dedicated to providing serious adult practitioners with high-quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training in Waltham, Massachusetts. Our gym serves the greater Boston area and welcomes students of all experience levels—from complete beginners to advanced athletes seeking to sharpen their skills. We believe that BJJ is as much about personal growth and community as it is about technical mastery, and that philosophy shapes everything we do.
Our training environment emphasizes fundamental technique, sustainable progression, and mutual respect between training partners. We focus on building a culture where athletes can train hard while staying injury-free and enjoying the process. Our instructors bring years of competitive experience and a commitment to explaining the "why" behind techniques, helping students develop deep understanding rather than just memorizing movements. The atmosphere is welcoming but serious—we're here to get better, together.
We offer consistently scheduled adult BJJ classes throughout the week, with programming designed for both new students beginning their jiu-jitsu journey and experienced grapplers working toward their next belt rank. Whether you're looking to develop real self-defense skills, find an intense athletic outlet, or join a tight-knit community of martial artists, Integrated Martial Development Center is the place to start or continue your BJJ path.

I got a membership for my 7-year-old after he tried it out and immediately fell in love with it. My son is gentle by nature and feels uncomfortable with aggression and confrontation in team sports, which is one of the main reasons I signed him up. What stood out to me right away was how attentive the coaches are. There are often four coaches in a session with about a dozen kids, which means each child receives frequent attention, encouragement, and timely correction. The head coach Aidan is consistently present, walking around the room, and Coach Ryan even trains alongside the older kids on the mat. It has a great martial arts vibe, focused, respectful, and supportive toward all the kids, especially newcomers. My son has so much fun that he even convinced his best friend to come practice and join him. I highly recommend Atlas Jiu Jitsu.
Got a membership to Atlas about a month and a half ago after trying out the free class trail. This place is the first place I have ever trained BJJ and they are very beginner friendly from the coach all the way to the team. The thing that I like the most at Atlas is the atmosphere is great, friendly, and competitive. Aiden who is the coach gives really great tips and tricks on every move he shows the class, as well as demonstrating the move multiple times in slowing down the technique so you can understand how to perform the move correctly. The team is also very friendly and helpful in performing these moves especially if you are stuck on something you will get assisted in the correct way it should be done. Overall the experience has been great and I would recommend Atlas to anyone looking for a place to train in Waltham.
I signed my 4 year old son up for jiu jitsu about 2 months ago after his one trial class. We are so happy with the class, it incorporates both discipline and fun. My son actually looks forward to going and enjoys every second he is there. I have also noticed a boost in his confidence since starting the program. Thank you Aidan and the other coaches for being so patient and good with the littles! We love it!
Atlas BJJ is without a doubt a topnotch school. I have trained under all three Professors. Who are all knowledgeable. Professor Aidan Sericola is a friendly and knowledgeable Professor and definitely worth trying a class with if you have the opportunity.
Professor Aidan is amazing with the kids program. He knows the art of Jiu Jitsu and does an awesome job of passing his knowledge on. Thank you for allowing us to train here.
Frequently Asked Questions
DO I NEED EXPERIENCE TO START TRAINING BJJ?
Not at all! Integrated Martial Development Center welcomes complete beginners. We offer introductory classes specifically designed to teach the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a safe, supportive environment. Everyone starts somewhere, and our coaches will guide you every step of the way.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST CLASS?
For your first visit, comfortable athletic wear such as shorts and a rash guard works perfectly. Once you train regularly, you'll want a gi (BJJ uniform). We train gi here — our coaches can point you toward the right gear.
IS THERE A FREE TRIAL CLASS?
Yes! We encourage you to try a class before committing. Contact Integrated Martial Development Center to schedule your complimentary intro class and experience our training environment for yourself.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN AS A BEGINNER?
Most beginners see strong progress training 2-3 times per week. Consistency matters more than volume early on. As your conditioning improves, many students increase to 4-5 sessions per week.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A BLUE BELT IN BJJ?
On average, dedicated students earn their blue belt in 1-2 years of consistent training. Progression depends on mat time, active learning, and open rolling. Each stripe reflects real skill growth.
