Been at HBUTC for about 6 months and it's been one of the best decisions of my life. The environment is amazing and everyone there is super friendly, knowledgeable, and so helpful. The gym is very spacious and has a huge matt for their kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu programs! For these past 6 months, I have been training under Razor Rob McCullough learning his *Razor Striking System* and I love it. The system is amazing! it teaches you how to fight in both, orthodox and southpaw stances! and the way the classes are run are great, you get to learn how to fight while getting in amazing shape! Super safe environment for anyone interested in learning an amazing self defense skill! Highly recommend it, it's life changing. 💯💯💯
The only gym I’ve found that actually teaches adults from the basics to footwork (both stances) and defense**. After a few years and a handful of gym trials/memberships, I nearly gave up trying to find a standup/striking gym that teaches adults (beginners)- from the ground- up. The Razor Striking system changed my life. I know of no other OC gyms where you have the chance to learn from true mma competitors; let alone, learn from the creator of RSS and mma pioneer/Champion/legend/amazing human being, Rob McCulluh. At HBUTC, committing to the RSS program, I gained a priceless confidence in self defense and a passion for learning the standup/striking martial art. I also found unique new friendships in the coaches/staff and fellow members. I came to HBUTC from earning my blue belt in bjj at a separate gym; hardly knowing how to throw a weak 1-2-3. Bjj is amazing and HBUTC offers it, but I hated lacking confidence and skills in standup self defense/striking. Before I moved out of town, I earned my blue band in RSS after 2+ years committed to the program, and I left knowing more than I ever thought was possible. Now longer do I carry any burden of fear about defending myself and my family, when it comes to distance and keeping whatever situation on the feet. At HBUTC, I even learned how to strike/defend in the southpaw stance, along with my natural orthodox stance. I strongly recommend giving this gym a try. At the very least, signing your kid(s)- up with RSS and BJJ at HBUTC. Rob McCulluh and the coaches - after much time spent at HUBTC, personally - I’ve grown to pleasantly learn are among the highest of character; phenomenal with kids and their instruction makes the martial arts both easy to learn/improve with and loads of fun. Experience-wise, you can’t find better than “Razor” Rob. Receiving top level advice from Rob during RSS can feel surreal, knowing the resume he stands on, worldwide.
The striking training classes are amazing, they have the best coaches! The classes are high-energy, and the community is so supportive. I’ve seen real progress in my strength, confidence, and endurance. Every class pushes me to get stronger, improve my technique and have fun at the same time. I highly recommend to anyone looking to level up their training. The atmosphere is positive, fun, and welcoming for all levels.
I’ve been going to Huntington Beach Ultimate Training Center for a while now and honestly, I love it here. The trainers are amazing, super helpful, motivating, and they actually care about your progress. The classes are fun (kickboxing is my favorite) and always leave you feeling strong and accomplished. The vibe is really welcoming too, everyone’s friendly and it just feels like a community, not some random gym where no one talks to each other. Definitely recommend checking it out if you’re looking for a place that actually makes you excited to work out.
HBUTC is the first gym I’ve trained at. The RSS program has broken down striking into individual lessons, making it much easier to focus on certain skills at a time. The facility, gear, and coaches are top tier. I’m beyond stoked to be apart of this gym.
Frequently Asked Questions
IS THERE A FREE TRIAL CLASS?
Absolutely. We invite all prospective students to try their first class free at HB ULTIMATE TRAINING CENTER. It's the best way to experience our training environment, meet our coaches, and see if BJJ is right for you. No experience or equipment needed — comfortable athletic clothing is fine.
DO I NEED ANY EXPERIENCE TO START?
No experience necessary! HB ULTIMATE TRAINING CENTER welcomes complete beginners. Our instructors break down every technique step by step, and our community is known for being welcoming and patient with new students. Everyone starts as a white belt, and that's exactly where you should start too.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST CLASS?
For your first visit, comfortable athletic clothing works perfectly — a t-shirt and shorts or athletic pants. Once you commit to training regularly, you'll want to invest in a gi (kimono). Our coaches can recommend quality options at a range of price points.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN?
Most students at HB ULTIMATE TRAINING CENTER train 2 to 3 times per week and see consistent progress. Showing up regularly matters far more than training intensely once in a while. We offer multiple class times throughout the week so you can find a schedule that fits your life.
DO YOU OFFER CLASSES FOR KIDS?
Yes! We offer dedicated programs for children and teens at HB ULTIMATE TRAINING CENTER. Our youth classes focus on discipline, respect, confidence-building, and the fundamentals of BJJ in a safe, fun environment.
