Michael was a fun, detailed, and very generous with his time. I had the opportunity to train with him and can’t wait for the next time. His understanding of the nuances and details that make his techniques work is impressive to say the least. I also appreciated his experience in Gracie Jiu Jitsu from the perspectives of different Gracie family members he has trained with. He did a great job of explaining the lesson to all belt levels so that everyone could grasp what was taught. I would highly recommend training with and learning from Michael.

Had the pleasure of meeting Michael Casey at his seminar at my gym SDBJJ last month. Learned a lot during the seminar, the double arm bar from a failed closed guard escape was my favorite thing. He was very thorough with his instruction and stuck around for about over a hour after the seminar to go over specific struggles within our own jiu jitsu game that some of us had questions about. If you are looking for jiu jitsu for self defense he’s your guy. He also has a lot of knowledge that will help anyone who’s doing jiu jitsu as a hobby or competitively.

I recently attended Sensei Michael's BJJ seminar and it was excellent. Sensei Michael's emphasis on the pragmatics of BJJ for real life Self-Defense were invaluable. His comprehensive background and extensive training with some of the legends of the Gracie family (including Relson, Rickson, et al.) provided great insights for how BJJ was originally intended to be used for actual Self-Defense scenarios. Sensei Michael also spent a lot of time on the details and spent extra time with all of us after the seminar was supposed to end, which was really kind of him.

First and foremost I’d like to say Mike Casey is absolutely amazing I am blessed to have the luxury of being affiliated with Watershed BJJ were I currently attend as a student in Fredericksburg, Va under Shawn Maines who is an absolute pleasure to call my coach, Mentor, & friend! Mike Casey had recently came to the Fredericksburg area and I was fortunate enough to attend a seminar and I’m am so grateful for the amazing knowledge that Mike was kind enough to share with everyone at the seminar! With the help of two absolutely amazing inspirational individuals in Mike a Shawn after 5 months of training BJJ I had recently decided to go out of my comfort zone an compete in competition in back to back weeks . I managed to get 2nd place in 130 pound No-GI & the following week I had to be bumped up to 154 pound division weighing roughly 120 pounds in the GI with all odds against me I managed to secure the submission with 9 seconds on the clock ! Needless to say if you ever have the opportunity

I had the pleasure to spend three hours learning from Mike Casey today. To say it was absolutely amazing is an understatement. Mike’s ability to relate the information is second to none. I’m already making plans to study under Mike again. As a note of reference I’m a fourth degree black belt under Phil Migliarese out of Philadelphia.
