My kids have been attending Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Commerce for several months and have been having a blast! Coach Chris teaches the children’s class and does a wonderful job. He is very welcoming to new students and encourages them if they are apprehensive at first. He does a great job of pairing kids by size and experience while also watching out for their well-being. Chris stresses safety and respect for training partners daily and has fostered a positive environment for students to learn in. The children’s curriculum is a nice mix of self-defense and tournament-focused Jiu-Jitsu. The facility is clean and well-maintained.

I'm reviewing to give my personal testimony of Andy and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Andy came out to my office and had a personal safety session with us ladies. He was very clear in his explanations, went around the room to watch how each of us performed the maneuvers, and offered maneuvers for very unique situations. I learned so much, and enjoyed it so much, that I went to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in Commerce for a trial period as well. The location was very welcoming, I felt safe the entire time, and had a lot of fun. I plan on my daughter taking this when she turns six, and it becoming a whole family activity.

Our family enrolled our middle daughter in the kids program at Gracie Barra Commerce in November 2023, hoping it would help her regulate her emotions. It has done that and so much more. She has grown into one of the most respectful young people you could meet, and she has learned how to work as part of a team with children of all skill levels, sizes, abilities, and backgrounds. A month later, our oldest daughter decided to join. While she is naturally confident, she had been struggling with ADHD at the time. Jiu-jitsu has helped her develop focus and discipline. As she prepared to transition into middle school, it also gave us peace of mind knowing she has the skills to protect herself if ever needed. Shortly after, our son joined as well. He was incredibly shy—until he stepped on the mat. Jiu-jitsu has a way of bringing out confidence, and we’ve seen that transformation firsthand. All three of our children are learning valuable self-defense skills, which we deeply appreciate. But what stands out even more are the life lessons they carry with them beyond the mat. They are more confident, respectful, kind, and understanding. And most importantly—they stand up against bullying. While jiu-jitsu provides the foundation, it is truly the instructors who make the difference. Whether led by Mr. Chris or the dedicated young adults who volunteer their time, every class emphasizes strong values, safety, and personal growth. Enrolling our children at this academy has been one of the best decisions we’ve made for our family.

My two sons (11 years old & 13 years old) have been attending Jui-Jitsu classes for three (3) months since the first week of January 2026. They both thoroughly enjoy the people, coaches and content of the classes. Coaches Andy, Chris, Roman and RJ are excellent coaches/trainers. All are very patient and will literally work one-on-one with my kids to ensure they fully understand the move stressing them to work on the technique and to learn at your pace. My kids don't have any athletic background and we sincerely appreciate how patient Andy and his team are to train my kids. My kids have fun while learning how to protect themselves. I highly recommend this academy if you value quality training with a great group of coaches / trainers. The academy is very clean and safe for EVERYONE..... but don't just take my word for it stop in yourself and give it a try. They offer a free 1 day trial class. Pop in yourself and check it out. You'll enjoy it.
