Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Altamonte Springs
About Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Altamonte Springs
At Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Altamonte Springs, we teach the art the way it was meant to be taught — rooted in the original Gracie self-defense system developed by Hélio Gracie, where technique and leverage matter more than size or strength. Our classes are structured around real-world application, meaning every technique we drill has a purpose beyond the competition mat. Whether you're a complete beginner who's never tied on a gi or someone with years of experience looking to sharpen your fundamentals, our curriculum meets you where you are and builds on it systematically.
We work with adults, kids, and families throughout the Altamonte Springs area, and we take the teaching side of this seriously. You won't get thrown into open sparring on day one and left to figure it out. Our instructors walk students through the Gracie Combatives program and beyond, breaking down the mechanics of each position until they click — then building the timing and feel that makes those mechanics usable under pressure. Small class sizes mean you actually get coached, not just supervised.
What keeps people here long-term is that the training stays honest. You'll roll with training partners who help you improve, not ones trying to prove something every round. Progress is visible and measurable, and the atmosphere on the mat reflects the values Gracie Jiu-Jitsu has always stood for — respect, discipline, and the confidence that comes from knowing you can handle yourself. If you're in the Altamonte Springs area and you've been thinking about getting started, come in and see what it feels like.

Great Gym to start with if your thinking of doing Jiu Jitsu. I am a blue belt under the main Black Belt Instructor in this gym (Brian Fisher) who has been with me since day 1 at the age of 36 and I had no prior experience on any martial arts whatsoever. I’m 41 now and have competed several times in tournaments. If you have prior injuries or have worries about getting injured it’s not going to be in this gym. They will guide you step by step. The Gym has everything. The 2nd Floor you can do weight training. They also have kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu kids classes. There’s a 10 day free trial so stop by, everyone is welcome.
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Altamonte Springs is an AMAZING school. What brought us in was the Bullyproof program for our 3 kids, but we have expanded since then. Over 2 years later, we have the entire family enrolled. My wife LOVES the Women Empowerment classes, and as a 20-year BJJ practitioner and enthusiast, I am excited about the return to self-defense focused training. The coaches and staff are friendly, courteous, and always filled with positive energy. They are not only knowledgeable about the systematic training methods, but also well versed in how to connect with students of all ages in a way that promotes safety, progress, and collaboration. There are not enough words to express our appreciation for this school. I can only hope that you can experience it for yourself and begin your own journey.
Really awesome place to train. Brian takes his time to break down moves and the whole class is very welcoming and friendly, when I told them I was competing at month end, they took the time to go through drills with me and technique sparring. Really shocked how much I felt at home given I am from the UK on holiday.. They even lent me a gi 🙏🏻 definitely worth checking out if you are in the area! Thanks again guys
If you are looking for a place to learn the art of Jiu-Jitsu and good self defense techniques look no further, you found it. I have been going there for over a year now and have nothing but positive things to comment. The coaches are very knowable, patient in helping you understand each grappling move. They are excellent teachers and it is a safe fun environment for the whole family. Everyone is very friendly and I enjoy being there during my classes. I give Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Altamonte Springs 5 stars!
I've had an incredible experience so far at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Altamonte Springs! Coach Henry and Coach Berto are both extremely knowledgeable and do a fantastic job of breaking things down in a way that makes learning Jiu-Jitsu feel approachable and effective. The Gracie Combatives program is proven and well-structured, making it easy to pick up techniques without feeling overwhelmed or thrown into the deep end. This is something I unfortunately experienced at other local gyms. Here, there's a real focus on understanding the fundamentals and building confidence at your own pace.
