This review is long overdue since my daughters started training here in 2017 at 5 and 7 years old. If you're thinking of training real deal Brazilian jiu jitsu or enrolling your child, in a welcoming, family oriented, safe and clean academy, then GB Long Beach is the place you want to be! Very high level instruction and lots of skilled training partners for kids up through adults. It's been an amazing experience to watch my children's growth Gi and No Gi jiu jitsu and all the intangibles this school has taught them like discipline, self confidence, character, sportsmanship, loyalty etc... Professor Rodrigo, Prof. Mike, Prof. Mitchell, Coach Meg and so many others that there's to many to type have been guardian angels in my daughters lives and an integral part of their development. I would highly recommend Gracie Barra Long Beach, in my humble opinion it's the absolute best BJJ gym in Long Beach and Southern California! One of the best decision I ever made was signing them up and making sure they stayed consistent coming to class to learn! If you're on the fence and debating where you should sign up to start your jiu jitsu journey, you have to give GB LB a try, you won't regret it!
My son has been attending BJJ in this location since 2021. He likes this place because it’s so close from our house and he as several students from his school that also attended here. Instructors are very professional with how they teach the class and also makes the class fun kids. My son is now at the next level of class which are from students 8 years old and older. On the pictures attached are his first day of class and his recent promotion.
My son LOVES Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu Long Beach! We had him try another jiu jitsu school and he didn’t seem to like it. At both schools he was given a gi to wear and participated in a free lesson. The difference is, at Gracie Barra Long Beach, he loved it and wanted to sign up that same day. Since that first lesson, he’s excited to go to class everyday. He’s not only learning jiu jitsu but he’s making new friends as well. As a parent, I love that my son is not only learning jiu jitsu, but also being reminded about good manners, good hygiene and not being afraid to stand up for himself. All of the professors are great at teaching and training the students. I highly recommend this particular jiu jitsu school for any child who wants to learn a martial art. Not all schools are created equal, and as far as I’m concerned, this one is THE BEST!!
I have never been disappointed going to any Gracie Barra. Aside from a world class curriculum and top-notch instruction, the best benefit of being a Gracie Barra member is that if you're a member of one, you can go to any Gracie Barra anywhere in the world - and there are more than 800 locations worldwide!
I've been training at GB Long Beach for 5 years, and it's been a wonderful experience. Professor Rodrigo has a system that helps everyone learn the art of jiujitsu. If you go to class consistently, you WILL improve! GB Long Beach has a flexible schedule, and I train with the 6AM class that Professor Brian runs. There is a strong spirit of camaraderie and friendship amongst my classmates, and I know one thing for sure; rolling with great people is the best way to start any day! Go GB Long Beach!!!!!!
