About Frostbite Vale-tudo (Team Marcelo Alonso/ Carlson Gracie Team)

At Frostbite Vale-Tudo, we are Alaska's original MMA gym — over two decades of training Fairbankans to fight, compete, and grow. Founded and run by head BJJ instructor Jeff Nielsen and Muay Thai coach Parker Nielsen, Frostbite has forged generations of grapplers and fighters who represent Interior Alaska on mats and in cages across the country.

The gym's name reflects both the climate and the mentality: tough conditions forge tough athletes. Frostbite is affiliated with Team Marcelo Alonso and carries the proud Carlson Gracie Team lineage — a legacy built on aggressive, submission-focused Jiu-Jitsu and a culture of pushing technical limits in training.

We offer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in both Gi and No-Gi formats, Bang Muay Thai striking, and competition-oriented grappling. Our BJJ curriculum is rooted in leverage, proper technique, and the understanding that anyone — regardless of size or strength — can become a capable fighter on the ground.

Located at 845 College Road in Fairbanks, Frostbite is the home of serious martial arts training in Interior Alaska. If you want to learn from coaches who have trained the state's best fighters for more than 20 years, come see us on the mat.

This gym is awesome. The coaches are attentive and challenge the kids. Very professional environment. Great instruction for the kids. My boy gets his energy out and loves coming to class! Highly recommend! The value is unmatched with a 1 time fee and the ability to come to any class you would like during the week.

I really love training here (I've been going to both jiu jitsu and kickboxing for over three years now). The coaches push hard, but respect my limitations and don't push hard enough to break me. Classes are well structured, and moves and concepts are taught clearly and thoroughly. Instructors do a great job keeping eyes on everyone and clarifying and helping out when needed. The environment is friendly and helpful, and I've never had any problems with coaches or other members of the classes being disrespectful or inappropriate. If you want to learn bjj or kickboxing, or just want a really fun, well-structured workout a few times a week, I absolutely recommend this gym.

Came in for a BJJ Begginner Trial Class. The instructors were extremely welcoming, and asked my skill level specifically, then made sure I was absorbing the practical skills during rolling. I will definitely be back, it seemed like an awesome environment to learn.

Great gym for both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and kick-boxing/Muay Thai. I've been a consistent member for 7 years, and I have two kids in the kids classes. Great activity and confidence builder for the kids. Coaches Jeff and Parker give the kids room to learn and encourage them to push past comfort zones. Adult classes are a great mix of fundamentals and more technical techniques. There is something for every skill level in every class. Great gym environment to learn and push yourself hard for improvement. Also, don't beat yourself up if you miss class every now and then... your new friends will do that for you.

A la carte classes for kids and adults. Jeff and Parkers hands on approach for instruction are both effective and respectful. My kids can't wait to go every day. Parents are welcome to watching or run errands during kids classes or even join in their own classes. Pricing is competitive for lower 48 but comes with more training opertunities then normal.
