Reviews
I’ve been training at Core Combat for almost two years now, and it’s truly been one of the best experiences of my life. From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was different. The training has helped me get in great shape, but more importantly, it’s taught me discipline, focus, and confidence that carry over into my everyday life. Coach Tommy and Coach Jim are incredible people who push you to be your best while genuinely caring about your progress, both inside and outside the gym. The atmosphere at Core Combat is second to none. it’s supportive, motivating, and feels more like a family than just a gym. I’m really proud to call myself apart of it.
My son has been training with Core for over a year and I couldn’t be happier with our experience. He absolutely loves going and often goes earlier and stays later on his own. He has truly found his passion. He learned to use MMA as a positive outlet during personal struggles & Growth. The owner and coach have been wonderful, encouraging and Continue to help him develop skill & Discipline. I couldn’t imagine my son going anywhere else. I highly recommend.
We've been a part of the Core Combat Sports family for 4 years, and it has been an incredible journey for our family. My son started in the "Mighty Bushitos" program at age 4, and now, at 8 years old, he's proudly earned his green belt/black stripe in the "Warrior" program. The growth we've seen in him, both as a fighter and as a young person, has been amazing. The coaches at Core are not just teaching martial arts—they’re instilling life lessons about perseverance, respect, and never giving up. The classes are well-structured and fun, often ending with games that the kids love. They also have a great system of earning patches, belts, stripes, and certificates, which keeps the kids motivated and excited about their progress. Core Combat Sports is very family-oriented. Over the years, we've become close with other members and their families, and it truly feels like a community where we know and support each other. The gym also hosts various events throughout the year, like picnics, parents' night out, and other fun activities that bring everyone together. If you're looking for a place that will not only teach you or your kids martial arts but also provide a supportive and close-knit community, Core Combat Sports is the place to be!
We can’t say enough good things about Core, the owner and coach Jim. Our son has been going faithfully for almost two years and we’ve seen a huge change in his personality, demeanor and overall mental health. Kids need structure and a place that helps them grow and Core has helped significantly.
By the time I'm writing this review, it's my fifth time on trial with Jujitsu class. I went with a mild interest on my first class, then my interest grew dramatically as I come back each time . How minor movement and body position make great differences. How one is able to overcome another who is more physically capable. I love the instructions of Coach Tommy, and his coaching methods. I enjoy the lessons I learned so far, and the eustress that comes with them. I recommend training with Core, because it's more than the martial art. After my second class, I realized this place doesn't just teach technique or train the body, but also strengthens the spirit and help develop a fighter mind set. I would gave more stars, but I have just began. I look forward training more at Core with enthusiasm.
Frequently Asked Questions
IS THERE A FREE TRIAL CLASS?
Absolutely. We invite all prospective students to try their first class free at Core Combat Sports. It's the best way to experience our training environment, meet our coaches, and see if BJJ is right for you. No experience or equipment needed — comfortable athletic clothing is fine.
DO I NEED ANY EXPERIENCE TO START?
No experience necessary! Core Combat Sports welcomes complete beginners. Our instructors break down every technique step by step, and our community is known for being welcoming and patient with new students. Everyone starts as a white belt, and that's exactly where you should start too.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST CLASS?
For your first visit, comfortable athletic clothing works perfectly — a t-shirt and shorts or athletic pants. Once you commit to training regularly, you'll want to invest in a gi (kimono). Our coaches can recommend quality options at a range of price points.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN?
Most students at Core Combat Sports train 2 to 3 times per week and see consistent progress. Showing up regularly matters far more than training intensely once in a while. We offer multiple class times throughout the week so you can find a schedule that fits your life.
DO YOU OFFER CLASSES FOR KIDS?
Yes! We offer dedicated programs for children and teens at Core Combat Sports. Our youth classes focus on discipline, respect, confidence-building, and the fundamentals of BJJ in a safe, fun environment.
