I recently took a self defense class at Carlson Gracie Gainesville and found it very practical and applicable to real life scenarios. Craig and his team were knowledgable and extremely helpful in their instruction. They were all patient and willing to practice and explain as much as needed. The studio also has a very comfortable and intimate set up. I look forward to revisiting in the future!
I’ve been taking jujitsu self-defense classes from Craig for over 2 years. His inaugural women’s self-defense clinic at his new gym today didn’t disappoint, as usual. I always learn new things with each session. Craig had a fairly large class with 13 students of all ages, from young teens to seniors in their 70s, however everyone had equal time and excellent patient instruction from Craig and his 2 assistants, and we all came away with new skills and were eager to learn more. I highly recommend Craig and his Carlson Gracie gym for all levels - beginners through black belts- if you want to learn full competitive jujitsu or simply self-defense the right way, in a clean safe professional setting.
I am very thrilled to have found this gym. The sedentary life was impacting my vitality and energy. The women’s self defense classes are empowering. Craig and his students are excellent teachers and make me feel welcomed, accepted and encouraged to move my body in ways I didn't think I still could. I’m starting out once a week now and already can see the results in my confidence and fitness and it’s only been a month!
I have been a fan of Martial Arts since I was very young, getting involved in Judo when I was 9-10. Throughout my military career, I trained in hand to hand combat tactics, which are Strongly rooted in Brazilian jiu jitsu. Since I retired from the service, I have been looking for something that is akin to the the structure and discipline that have been ingrained throughout my years of serving Our Great country. Professor Craig Sainz and the Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Team was the answer I was looking for. Every class, I am absolutely amazed at the level of knowledge, skills, and one on one Master Class instruction that is offered. I am in my 60's, and I walked in the dojo feeling like a 60 something; since I have embarked on this journey, I have turned back the hands time and have begun to gain the confidence in my abilities that I had when I wore the Uniform. Only now, I Proudly wear a Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Gi! If you are looking for that Next level of your life's journey, you will be welcomed onto the mats by not just Craig Sainz and the Carlson Gracie Team, but by a Family. It's time to come home, hope to see you soon 😁!
If you resonate with detail oriented instructions and a deeper understanding of human anatomy and how that applies to self defense, craig sainz is the instructor for you. Ive been rolling for years and every time I come to one of his classes I learn a new cool detail that takes my game to the next level. The mats are clean, the jiujitsu is as well. All levels welcome! (Ps. Keep up with this guy in a roll, if you can!)
