Absolutely amazing classes here. I transferred here from a different BJJ gym and after my first class, I knew I had to switch over. 100 percent recommend to anyone who wants to train

The level of instruction and detail at Broadway is incredible. JC does an amazing job with the nogi and gi classes. He walks around the room as we’re drilling and corrects our technique, and it helps a ton. And most of our live rolls are positional and correspond to what we were learning in class that day - the positional rolls really help so much with trying new techniques in live gos. I’m super bummed I have to move back to NY this month and hope that whatever gym I join in NY is as helpful as broadway has been.

Went for my first ever Jiu Jitsu class and it was absolutely amazing! All the staff and coaches were helpful and supportive, the gentleman at the front desk was insightful and the team was very welcoming. Inviting environment, I’ll definitely be back and I am looking forward to learning from everyone here!

Great gym, Sam is a fantastic Muay Thai instructor who genuinely cares for his students. JC is extremely knowledgeable and a great instructor, Ellis, Demetrius, and Joey are amazing coaches and always bring great energy! Dima at the front desk is super kind and communicative. Overall my experience over these last ~4 months and hopefully longer have been fantastic my mental health has greatly improved as well as my body, BJJ, and Muay Thai skills. If you are thinking of taking the jump, do it. You won’t regret it.

Broadway BJJ is easily one of the best gyms I’ve ever stepped into. The environment is welcoming, the coaches are knowledgeable, and the community feels like family. Whether you’re brand new or experienced, the instructors meet you where you are and push you to grow without ever making you feel out of place. Especially Dimitri, he pushes you to stay consistent and to excel past your limitations! The classes are well-structured, the technique is top-tier, and the energy in the room makes you actually look forward to training. You can tell everyone here truly cares—about the art, the work, and each other. If you’re looking for a place to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, build confidence, get in shape, and be part of a supportive community, Broadway BJJ is the place. Highly recommend!

Frequently Asked Questions

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE TO START TRAINING BJJ?

Not at all! Broadway Jiu-Jitsu and Fitness welcomes complete beginners. We offer introductory classes specifically designed to teach the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a safe, supportive environment. Everyone starts somewhere, and our coaches will guide you every step of the way.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST CLASS?

For your first visit, comfortable athletic wear such as shorts and a rash guard works perfectly. Once you train regularly, you'll want a gi (BJJ uniform). We train gi here — our coaches can point you toward the right gear.

IS THERE A FREE TRIAL CLASS?

Yes! We encourage you to try a class before committing. Contact Broadway Jiu-Jitsu and Fitness to schedule your complimentary intro class and experience our training environment for yourself.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN AS A BEGINNER?

Most beginners see strong progress training 2-3 times per week. Consistency matters more than volume early on. As your conditioning improves, many students increase to 4-5 sessions per week.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A BLUE BELT IN BJJ?

On average, dedicated students earn their blue belt in 1-2 years of consistent training. Progression depends on mat time, active learning, and open rolling. Each stripe reflects real skill growth.
