“The most important thing here is that we have a place where everyone is free to be themselves.” The owner of Bristol Jiu Jitsu said this shortly after I walked in for the first time. Over the course of a week of training here I observed this philosophy in motion. I observed a true community of people exhibiting genuine care for one another. The technical level at this gym is beyond reproach, but I believe it is the welcoming and friendly attitude of the coaches and athletes that sets Bristol Jiu Jitsu apart. In short: An ideal blend of attitude of kinship and aptitude for violence.
Visted Bristol jujitsu on several occasions and will surely be back for more. All the members and Instructors of this gym seem excited about the sport and look to push eachother to be the best version of themselves. Having trained with graduates of the crash course program I feel confident in saying it is a great way to build fundamentals as a new student. The facility itself is very clean and boasts many accommodations that bring value to its members. Weather you are just starting out with jujitsu, or looking to take your skills to the next level, Bristol bjj has got you covered.
Bristol bjj is a great place with very kind people. Everyone in the classes treat you like family. The atmosphere and camaraderie between instructors, students, and everyone in general is extremely uplifting and postive. Coach issac is very knowledgeable in kickboxing and jiujitsu and is able to relay information so well learning new techniques a breeze.
I was nervous to attend the nogi crash course as I was a complete beginner that wasn’t in the best shape, I was very quick to replace that nervousness with a desire to learn more about the art of jiu jitsu. Coach Tristan, coach Logan, and coach Issac are some very great guys that facilitate an amazing learning and welcoming environment for anyone willing to take the step onto the mats. As a beginner with no prior experience I have learned so much about the art form and myself, I’m a very firm believer that this place has changed my life for the better. I have every intention of continuing my training here for the foreseeable future. Since attending the nogi crash course back in October I have started training in the gi as well because they have gis to lend if you don’t have a personal one yet as well as gloves for kickboxing classes, I now plan to purchase my own but are thankful I was able to get a taste of that before hand. The gym itself is very clean and tidy, there are clean restrooms that include showers and body wash dispensers if needed. I highly recommend training here to my peers and now the public with this review, if your thinking of trying it out they offer a FREE week of class and will treat you as any other student. Come train with us, oss.
I recently had the pleasure of dropping in at Bristol BJJ while I was in town for business. The class was excellent—Logan did a great job breaking down the lasso guard technique we were drilling and went into impressive detail. Everyone at the academy was incredibly welcoming, and I really enjoyed my time training there. If you’re visiting the area for work or thinking about starting BJJ, I highly recommend stopping by Bristol BJJ.
