Reviews
If you are new (or have experience), 10th Planet Thousand Oaks is the best gym around for kids and adults. Professor Eric Ramey, Sam Richetts, Coach Dorian, and Coach Eric are the coolest people to learn from, they have studied and trained under highly ranked professionals, and they are truly committed to the 10th Planet Style. I have never felt more comfortable or welcome at a gym until I made the commitment to be a member here. The people here also want nothing but success for you as a training partner.
If you live anywhere near Thousand Oaks, you've just been gifted one of the most talented jiu jitsu instructors of all time. Professor Eric Ramey puts the science in the sport with a mastery I have yet to see rivaled in the 10 years of my doing this martial art. "Attention to detail" would be putting his teaching style lightly: you come away with not only a full understanding of a skill, but also, the most important part, the why of doing the technique. It changes how you look at everything we do on the mats to a degree where you change your own game because of the understanding of the skill. You progress faster than anywhere else because the systems of offense and defense are intertwined at the highest levels of the sport. The gym is an a state of the art facility, with spring flooring under the mats so you can practice repetitions safely. There are showers so you can be clean and good to go after class. The gym is conveniently located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. If you are at all curious, go in a for a free trial and see why 10th Planet Thousand Oaks is the top school in the area!
I have had the pleasure of training at this gym, and I can’t speak highly enough about the experience. Coach Eric does a phenomenal job breaking down technique with precision, always explaining the ‘why’ behind each movement. Beyond the technical excellence, the culture here is so supportive and encouraging —full of people who are passionate about jiu jitsu and happy to take the time to explain and help you understand stuff. If you’re looking for a place to train where you’ll be challenged, supported, and constantly improving, this gym is an exceptional choice. This gym is very clean and also has a couple of changing rooms and a shower.
This is the best gym I've ever set foot in. I have been training for 8 years, and this place is A+ through and through. To start, the head coach's experience under John Danaher and Eddie Bravo is more than enough to convince you to sign up. Second, Prof. Ramey pays close attention to all his students and coaches individually as you take part in your practice; you're pretty much getting a mini-private. Lastly, let's not forget about the facility itself! Super clean, 2 bathrooms/showers, and brand new enforced judo throw mats! Do yourself a favor and drop in for a class, you won't regret it!
Went in last night & had a great experience. Awesome detailed instruction, & lots of friendly people on the mat to train with. My nogi game needs some work, so I'll definitely be popping back in there to learn some new techniques! A great atmosphere for anyone regardless of your experience level. The owner Eric is a great guy. Go check out a free class!
