10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Springfield MA
Reviews
10P Springfield is the best! Welcoming, informative, encouraging. All the instructors are fantastic, all the students are supportive of each other and want you to learn. I felt completely comfortable from day one and recommend anyone that’s even a little bit curious to come check it out. You won’t find a better group of people all working hard at improving their skill and wanting others around them to succeed. I can’t say enough nice things about this place, the staff or the other students.
Pat has done a phenomenal job creating a welcoming and inclusive space. He is a dedicated coach who continuously works to provide the highest quality learning experiences for his students. You'll be hard pressed to find a and knowledgeable and caring coach than Pat. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to learn Jiu Jitsu or advance their current skill level.
Have been training here for the past few months as a first-timer to jui-jitsu and have gained invaluable insight from the amazing peers, staff and coaches that are a part of this team. Would highly recommend this gym to anyone, regardless of skill or experience!
Pat is a great instructor and the environment is very welcoming. BJJ is an amazing way to get fit, learn a new skill and socialize all at the same time. The discipline is challenging and humbling and while it is a combat sport, you more often than not leave feeling more peaceful. They also have kids classes and I can't wait until my daughters are old enough to participate.
I have been training here a couple of years now, Pat has done a great job at creating a very welcoming environment that allows you to grow in the sport of grappling and also make great connections.
Frequently Asked Questions
DO I NEED EXPERIENCE TO START TRAINING BJJ?
Not at all! 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Springfield MA welcomes complete beginners. We offer introductory classes specifically designed to teach the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a safe, supportive environment. Everyone starts somewhere, and our coaches will guide you every step of the way.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST CLASS?
For your first visit, comfortable athletic wear such as shorts and a rash guard works perfectly. Once you train regularly, you'll want a gi (BJJ uniform). We train gi here — our coaches can point you toward the right gear.
IS THERE A FREE TRIAL CLASS?
Yes! We encourage you to try a class before committing. Contact 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Springfield MA to schedule your complimentary intro class and experience our training environment for yourself.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN AS A BEGINNER?
Most beginners see strong progress training 2-3 times per week. Consistency matters more than volume early on. As your conditioning improves, many students increase to 4-5 sessions per week.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A BLUE BELT IN BJJ?
On average, dedicated students earn their blue belt in 1-2 years of consistent training. Progression depends on mat time, active learning, and open rolling. Each stripe reflects real skill growth.
