I was having a really hard time as a veteran when I found this place. I felt like I had no community or identity outside of being a mom anymore. I was also struggling with isolation. It is amazing how lonely life can feel at times without a community. On a desperate whim I thought maybe learning something new could help me. I went to an open mat session and was surrounded by the most respectful and kind people. No one made me feel uncomfortable in fact multiple people made sure I was okay, often. They let me decide how far I wanted to push myself. They created the kind of space where you safely get to see what you’re capable of. It was such an amazing experience after a couple months I signed my daughter up and the moment my son is old enough he will go too. The children’s classes gave my 5 year old an outlet for her big feelings and energy. It’s not so much about making us stronger as it is about teaching us how to appropriately use our strengths via technique and team work. The women’s self defense class is an amazing place to start and there are so many women that go with all different skill levels. If you have a kid or are needing a community to help you grow I cannot recommend this location and its staff enough. I also really enjoy the beginner Jiu-Jitsu classes because they take the time to show and explain everything to you as much as you need. It is a family run business and you will feel that from the moment you walk in the door. In the last two decades I’ve been a member of many gyms but I’ve never felt like I found a home gym until I started coming here.

I was down in Santa Fe and trained at three different schools. I have experience traveling to schools and dropping in everywhere I go. Right off the gate, the greeting I received from head Coach Ruben made me realize this school felt different. Ruben's teaching is in-depth, not rushed, piece by piece, step by step. I gained knowledge each time I walked into his classes. It’s not all teaching, as Ruben is clearly an advocate for letting students work on their skills in live rounds. The school is real, legitimately run by an actual black belt coach. No gimmicks. I would highly recommend this school. I would love to train full-time under Ruben as I know he would improve my game.

I tried the all women self-defense class and it was great! I loved the sense of accomplishment and community with the regular students. The coaches are amazing and welcoming! I appreciate the opportunity to have attended and highly recommend this program.

If you're looking for a world class martial arts instructor that is invested in your martial arts growth than look no further. From the moment I walked in, Ruben was incredibly welcoming and made me feel like a crucial member of his team. His passion for teaching and the personalized tips helped me make adjustments that will take my skills to the next level. I travel and train all over the US and this is definitely one of the top experiences as far a customized learning and world class instructor. I'd highly recommend dropping in and trying it out.
