10p Downtown Detroit is amazing! Such a beautiful facility with all the amenities you’d want and more! Coaches Wayne and Tracy are some of the best people I’ve ever met! There are classes offered 6 days a week, a Gi class on Fridays evenings, a women’s only class on Saturday mornings, and open mat in Livonia on Sundays! Please check out 10p Downtown Detroit! You don’t regret it!
Stopped in for an open mat and had an absolute blast. All the students were skilled, casual and awesome. The coach obviously has built an incredible culture with a balanced approach for hobbyist safety and competitive drive.
Today my brother brought me to his BJJ gym for the first time and I had a really good experience. I’ve only rolled a couple of times at another place. Coach Tracy was leading the class and it was a really cool one. I learned a few techniques and got to dip my feet into jiu jitsu a bit. Very friendly and welcoming environment with excellent instruction and very well kept facilities
Great Gym, I saw that they really looked out for their newer, younger students. If you’re looking for a good place to start BJJ, I’d highly recommend 10p Detroit. I was visiting from MN for a couple days and they introduced me to the 10p lockdown system, what a game changer! Thank you!!
Always have a wonderful time training at this location! The coaches go through each step of the process very carefully with the students and are there to assist as needed. One of the better schools I train at while traveling and would recommend, if you are in Detroit for work or pleasure, stop in here to get some great rolls and training in!

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE TO START TRAINING BJJ?
Not at all! 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Detroit welcomes complete beginners. We offer introductory classes specifically designed to teach the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a safe, supportive environment. Everyone starts somewhere, and our coaches will guide you every step of the way.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST CLASS?
For your first visit, comfortable athletic wear such as shorts and a rash guard works perfectly. Once you train regularly, you'll want a gi (BJJ uniform). We train gi here — our coaches can point you to the right gear.
IS THERE A FREE TRIAL CLASS?
Yes! We encourage you to try a class before committing. Contact 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Detroit to schedule your complimentary intro class and experience our training environment for yourself.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN AS A BEGINNER?
Most beginners see strong progress training 2-3 times per week. Consistency matters more than volume early on. As your conditioning improves, many students increase to 4-5 sessions per week.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A BLUE BELT IN BJJ?
On average, dedicated students earn their blue belt in 1-2 years of consistent training. BJJ progression depends on mat time, active learning, and open rolling. Each stripe reflects real skill growth.
